Every ATÉSE piece focuses on the quality of the garment and its fabric.
FABRICS
We work in natural fiber only (i.e. wool, silk, linen, cotton).
Most of our fabric is deadstock: material already woven, already existing, sourced from luxury European fashion houses. Because these fabrics cannot be rewoven once they are gone, each collection is, in part, unrepeatable. When deadstock is not available for a piece, we source from certified natural fiber mills.
TRIMS
- Buttons: mother of pearl, horn, metal; never plastic
- Zippers: metal teeth on organic cotton tape. Sometimes we utilize recycled polyester zippers as a functional exception to natural fiber in order to uphold our standards for craftsmanship
LABELS
Brand and size labels are 100% organic cotton.
The one true exception, throughout the collection, is the care label: 100% recycled polyester, chosen because it has to survive the life of the garment, wash after wash, in order to do its job, and to help you do yours too.
PACKAGING
Packaging follows the same standard as all our garments.
- Retail bags: Shiro ECO, an ecological paper made from 100% post-consumer recycled waste, finished with cotton handles
- Thank you cards and hang tags: cut from the same Shiro Eco paper
- Hang tags: attached with recycled cotton rope and a metal safety pin, nothing plastic, nothing adhesive
Every piece is wrapped in tissue paper, from the moment it leaves the workshop.
Knitwear is our one exception, it travels from the factory in plastic, the only reliable way to keep moths and moisture out, but every one of those bags is returned to the knitwear factory and used again. None of it goes to waste.
TRANSPARENCY
Every product page lists the full composition of that piece: every fiber. We don't use fabrics or materials if they fall short of our standard. That is the only kind of transparency worth having.
